Makina Optik was established in Istanbul in 1956 as a manufacturer’s representative for Carl Zeiss. In the beginning of the 1970’s, a significant development for Makina Optik in defence area was the establishment of a business relationship with Officine Galileo S.p.A. Makina Optik serves its clients by identifying the needs and trends in the Turkish market. The company strives to always be aware of news and developments in the Turkish market as well as the worldwide market. Once we determine how our clients’ products can serve to satisfy these requirements, we market and advocate for these products. In the defense industry side of its business, Makina Optik functions as a manufacturer’s representative and consultant.

vPSK-M23

Proximity Sensor Kit vPSK-M23

The proximity sensor for general purpose aviation bombs of Mk-80 series is placed at the front fuze well of the weapon and is intended to enable weapon warhead detonation at a designated height above the target, thus significantly increasing the efficiency of the carrying weapon. The proximity sensor is used as part of the proximity sensor kit vPSK-M23, which includes the vFI-M23 Initiator as well as the vAF-M23 fuze, beside the mentioned vPS-M23 proximity sensor itself. In order to ascertain the distance to the terrain, as well as its own velocity, the proximity sensor relies on radar and advanced signal processing, while facilitating the selection of the desired height of detonation above the target.

HF Over-The-Horizon Radar

Over The Horizon Radar (vHF - OTHR) is a multi–purpose system, designed primarily for vessel detection and tracking well beyond the horizon. The system is used for the coverage of the entire Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), where the country has exclusive rights for fishing, mining, drilling, etc. (up to 200 nautical miles (NM) from the shore). This protection far exceeds the reach of microwave radars and camera systems which require line of sight of the target; enabling efficient and accurate protection of the EEZ.

Course Correction Fuze for 155mm projectiles

Vlatacom Institute developed an advanced Course Correction Fuze (CCF), which should further increase weapon accuracy by incorporating both GNSS and inertial navigation. The introduction of a CCF does not alter the existing firing routines significantly. The CCF enables 2D correction of the projectile trajectory, i.e. reduces the hit dispersion in both range and deflection, facilitating a CEP of 20m at any range. Reduction of range of the projectile due to replacement of its conventional fuze with the proposed CCF is not more than 10%.

vMSIS3-CSD-C330-T Multisensor Electro-Optical System

The vMSIS3-CSD-C330-T is a multisensor electro-optical system designed for surveillance and reconnaissance applications. vMSIS3-CSD-C330-T comprises several different and complementary sensors that simultaneously observe interest zone and perform acquisition of objects during day, night and adverse weather conditions. The vMSIS3-CSD-C330-T comprises color low light camera, MWIR thermal imager, laser rangefinder, GPS receiver, digital magnetic compass, and high performance pan tilt positioner. The vMSIS3-CSD-C330-T is installed either on telescopic mast that enables sensor positioning on required height above the vehicle, or at fixed tower.

vPCP-VE_HF

Personal Crypto Platform for Voice Encryption

vPCP-VE_HF is an extension to Vlatacom solution for secure voice communication over any available voice channel (vPCP-VE). vPCP-VE was initially developed for use with GSM/UMTS and VoIP networks, but the solution proved to be extremely adaptable to most of the voice communication systems. The solution was tested on multiple HF radio devices and has shown excellent performance even between different radios. vPCP-VE-HF can be bridged to other communication systems by the use of a vPCP-VE gateway device.

TJE 45 Jet Engine

The TJE-45 has been developed as an expendable, robust and reliable jet engine with fewer components. The key parts of this engine are the centrifugal compressor, the radial turbine and the annular reverse-flow combustion chamber. The rotor components are arranged in a back-to-back concept, so that both ball bearings are inside the engine’s cold zone. The combustion chamber uses airblast atomizers, meaning that there are no sensitive elements that can cause failures and lastingly compromise the engine’s reliability.
